Making Light

Making Light, the debut album by Joanne Tatham, is the culmination of over a year of preparation and recording. The journey began when Jonathan McHugh at Jive/Zomba suggested to Joanne that she team up with the production/writing team of Barry Coffing and Julius Robinson.
After selecting great standards and writing new original songs, producer Barry Coffing then chose three of Hollywood's best studios -- Steve Tyrell's facility, Radio Recorders/Studio 56 and Cello Recorders.
Coffing guided a cast of extraordinary engineers, arrangers and musicians chosen for their jazz and pop sensibilities. The result is superb tracks that support Tatham*s lyricism with a range of colors, from big-band horns to rhythmic vibes, Even before the album was completed, Joanne's version of the Coffing/Robinson/Hugenberger original song "You Can't Hold Me Back" was selected as the lone jazz vocal song, included on the soundtrack of the award-winning feature film Roger Dodger starring Campbell Scott and Isabella Rossellini.
