Angela Stribling...Live

Gorgeous, sultry jazz vocals over varying styles of R&B & funky Jazz. Recorded live at the legendary Blue Note in New York City. Angela's debut CD "Angela Stribling...Live" Joined by musical great, the legendary Stevie Wonder, plus saxophonist Kim Waters, and pianist Marcus Johnson.  She is often compared with artists Phyliss Hyman, Erykah Badu, and Sade. However, her warm, sensual, smoky voice, together with unique phrasing and especially spirit provoking lyrics, firmly establish. Angela's place as one of the most gifted artists of our time.
Angela is a native of Buffalo, New York where she discovered her passion for singing at the age of 4 and was vocally trained in jazz and classical studies. She hones her skills in New York City at various venues including The Rainbow Room, The Supper Club, and The Soul Cafe. Her dynamic performances have earned her the honor of sharing the stage with some of the world's most gifted musicians including the incomparable Stevie Wonder, Chaka Kahn, Najee, guitarist Mark Whitfield, and bassist Victor Bailey. One of Angela's highest honors, was being invited as the vocalist to perform at a gala tribute for Congressman Charles Rangel hosted by President Bill Clinton, Robert DiNero, and Kevin Spacey.
When listening to "Angela Stribling. . .Live!" you get the feeling of actually being there as members of the audience get a chance to join in on the first tune, "Fever." The final guest on Fever is the masterful Stevie Wonder, who not only sings amazingly, but throws in a little free style humor. Band members are Gary Grainger on bass, Greg Grainger drums, Benjie Porecki piano, Gali Sanchez percussion, Marshall Keys saxophone. Angela sings a sultry, soulful rendition of "My Funny Valentine" where trumpeter Joey Morant feverishly conveys that same emotion. George Gray joins the band on drums. "I Can Still Feel You" is a beautiful, emotive song written for friend and former co-host on BET, the creator of "The Quiet Storm" radio format, Melvin Lindsey. She wrote the song after he passed away tragically from the AIDS Virus. This is one of the most requested songs at live performances.
Original song, "Voice Seduction" was a collaboration written with Charlie (CJ) Jones and Elise Perry. This live rendition is a jazz meets hip hop musical playground for a sweet, playful song about falling in love with someone just by the sound of their voice. The Standard "You Don't Know What Love Is" breathes new life as a blues laden anthem for lovers. Angela's exceptional ability to set the mood is consistent, and reminiscent of the late Phyliss Hyman.
Angela Stribling is most known for her stellar television career. As host of "Screen Scene" on BET, she was the network's entertainment news anchor interviewing luminaries in the television and film industries. With a lifelong love for jazz, Angela was an obvious choice when it was time for BET to launch their 24 hour jazz network, BET JAZZ. Angela not only complied, but was the key host for several of the fledgling network's programming, including Jazz Central, Jazz Scene, and Jazz Discovery. In radio, Angela is the host and producer of two syndicated radio features, Cameos of Black Women, and Jazz Notes distributed by American Urban Radio Networks in New York City. She is one of the most sought after voices in the country. Her professional credits include television and radio campaigns for Mercedes-Benz, Prudential Financial, and US Airways.
