Both Sides Now

Shirley Ritenour was born in California and raised in Georgia and Virginia. She began her musical career at a young age – first by accompanying herself with guitar and then as part of the singing group, Two Dots and a Dash with her older and twin sisters. Shirley and her sisters hit the local talent circuit as well as the Rotary Clubs in Georgia until the family moved to Virginia.
A trained classical musician and honors graduate of Catholic University in Washington D.C.; Shirley has also completed graduate studies at the Boston Conservatory. She has performed in a variety of venues, notable among them, operatic performances for various Ambassadors in Washington, as a Cabaret performer in Manhattan and the Anthem singer for the WNBA’s New York Liberty at Madison Square Garden.
Shirley’s life experiences – she was a black jack, roulette and baccarat dealer in Vegas, an opera singer in Graz, Austria and a singing bartender in Greenwich Village – influence the life and love themes of her performances which are known to move audiences to laughter and tears!
Today, Shirley enjoys giving back by sharing her music to benefit her favorite charities. Her debut CD, "Both Sides Now", is currently in release and 20% of the proceeds of the sale of this CD will be donated to Gilda’s Club, New York City. Shirley, resides in Brooklyn, New York.
