I Thought About You

What happens when Bach meets Porter, and Rodgers & Hart team up with Ellington? It's a new twist on the music audiences know and love - an original, contemporary sound with a hint of yesterday. It's the imaginative, inspiring and inimitable sound of Jan Prokop and Frank Ponzio. With their carefully honed artistry, exuberance and charm, Jan and Frank create a chemistry that's sheer elegance and wit.
Vocalist Jan Prokop has sung to rave reviews worldwide, performing in musicals, opera, orchestral concerts, recitals and cabaret, in both intimate settings and grand concert halls. "Soprano Jan Prokop brought to mind the great tradition of British oratorio singers with her dark lower register, warm vibrato and silvery high notes," wrote The Washington Post of her performance in The Messiah.
Jazz pianist and composer Frank Ponzio has captivated audiences with his personalized interpretations of George Gershwin & Duke Ellington as well as James Taylor and Stevie Wonder. He has appeared at Birdland, Town Hall, Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall, and with Ben Vereen on Live with Regis & Kathie Lee. Frank's signature arrangements, passionate playing, commanding yet delicate and sensitive touch, are the perfect match for Jan's expressive, seductive and classy sound.
In October 2002, Jan & Frank made their cabaret debut in Manhattan to enthusiastic reviews and soldout houses at Don't Tell Mama and JUDY's Chelsea where their unique style ignited audiences. "Prokop is a good entertainer and singer who picks quality songs ... this attractive lady could really make her mark, especially with such a stellar voice and confident stage presence," wrote John Hoglund of Back Stage. Stu Hamstra at CabaretHotlineOnline said, "Ms. Prokop is a natural born cabaret performer - eloquent vocals, exciting song choices and a total command of the stage and the room [and] the chemistry between vocalist and musical director is simply the best in cabaret. This is a must-see cabaret debut."
Born in musical theater, raised in the classical tradition, seasoned with years of live performance experience, Jan and Frank bring a fresh sparkle to the cabaret scene with their masterful, subtle, jazz-edged interpretations of the American Popular Song.
