The Music Of Sharon Bercutt

Sharon Bercutt has always been a surprise and, I must say, it is a pleasure working with her music. After starting out in the early 70s as a piano student, she developed into a songwriter-composer I greatly respect. She will find corners in the music that seem to me unique and overlooked.
Along with jazz, Sharon has been influenced by a wide variety of classical, modern and post-modern music. She has listened to Bill Evans and has been moved by him as have many of us. I know she admires Bud Powell and Thelonius Monk and their innovations, but Sharon has eclectic taste in the best sense of the word.
This was a very happy recording session. The musicians felt these musical ideas were as unique and fresh as I believe they are. Enthusiasm filled the studio. Finally, listen to the solo piano as a sign-off at the end of this CD. You'll hear the soul of Sharon Bercutt.
