Well, if we can use that as some measurement of vocal accomplishment then from what I’ve heard, both live and in the studio, Ben E. King could sing the Business To Business Yellow Pages! As any musician will tell you, one of the most challenging things to do is to put some bit of magic on a piece of tape in the sterile con fines of a recording studio. Most of us will settle for the right notes. Working with Ben on this project and noticing the total ease and natural approach he had with his vocals gave me a renewed appreciation for his gift of being not just a singer but a magician.
