Robert Goulet

Whether it’s a Broadway tune, a standard, or just a hit from the decade, Robert Goulet always gives a powerful performance. His career encompasses just about every phase of the entertainment world. From stage to television to nightclubs and, most definitely, recording, Goulet always excites audiences. Goulet was born in Massachusetts and by age 16 made his professional debut at the Summer Pops concert in Canada. His first major break, came in 1960 while he was doing a weekly variety television show in Canada. He visited New York to audition for the new Lerner and Loewe Broadway musical entitled

Camelot and landed the role of Lancelot! Most Broadway performers during this time made appearances on the national TV variety show Ed Sullivan, and Goulet was no exception. His strong voice and great looks brought him instant popularity.
His debut on Columbia Records came in 1962 with a song from yet another musical, Stop The World. The song ‘What Kind Of Fool Am I?,’ written by Leslie Bricusse and Anthony Newley, became his first chart record. He went on to record more of Bricusse and Newley with ‘Who Can I Turn To?’, the big ballad from Roar Of The Greasepaint as well as another Bricusse co-written tune, ‘If I Ruled The World’, from Pickwick. More Broadway tunes include the title song from ‘On A Clear Day’, written by Camelot lyricist Alan J. Lerner, but this time with music by Burton Lane.
