I'm usually in a big hurry to finish absolutely every project and move on to the next big thing. This CD was no different, but Life had other plans. In 2002 I recorded twelve songs I had co-written with my good friends, David Friedman and David Pomeranz. Originally the CD was titled "I'd Rather" because that's the sentiment that represented by newfound joy in writing songs out of the spotlight I'd been in for so many years. But my beloved father passed away in November of 2002 and I just couldn't bear to release the CD at the same time that the music of him had died inside of me. So I grieved deeply. I mourned the precious gift of such an amazing father until finally the joy began to return. By then I had written several musicals and screenplays and written a new song inspired by the sensational film, Bella, called Everyone Has a Story. I never dreamed I'd return to daily television but early in 2008 I joined the Today Show and went back to the familiar turf I'd known for so many years. But this time I brought something brand new with me: My desire to tell stories through tile universal language of music. Now it seems right to release the CD and re-title it My Way Home, because in an odd, bittersweet way that is exactly what I have found. |
