Sweet & Swing

Back in the heyday of the Big Band era, the trade journals would conduct polls, allowing readers to vote for their favorite "sweet" and "swing" band. "Sweet" connoted a somewhat sentimental sound while "swing" referred to a harder driving beat with improvised solos. Many of my song choices and instrumental decisions for this CD have been inspired by those bands and the popular music of the 30's, 40's and 50's. Had I been a girl singer (a "canary") back then, I would have had a very hard time deciding which kind of band to front, and an even harder time voting for my favorites!
